Al-Qalam Artistry was founded on the belief that art can be more than something beautiful to look at. It can invite reflection, preserve meaningful stories and inspire deeper thought.
The name Al-Qalam (The Pen) holds profound significance in Islam. It refers to the Pen that Allah created and commanded to write all that was, is and will be. It serves as a reminder of qadr (divine decree), that every moment unfolds according to Allah's wisdom, while our du'as, actions and trust in Him remain deeply meaningful. The name also reflects my love of Arabic calligraphy and the written word, making it a fitting foundation for an art practice centred on both visual and spiritual expression.
Many of my paintings are inspired by the Qur'an, the lives of the Prophets, Islamic architecture and moments of personal reflection (tadabbur). Others explore memory, emotion and the human experience through expressive layers of colour, texture and symbolism. Whatever the subject, each piece is created with intention, inviting the viewer to pause, reflect and discover meaning beyond what first meets the eye.
Rather than following a single artistic style, I allow each subject to determine its own visual language, drawing from expressionism, realism and contemporary influences. Layering lies at the heart of my process, not only through paint, but through the stories and symbolism beneath each composition.
Returning to painting was never something I planned, but one of the many unexpected blessings Allah placed in my path. Al-Qalam Artistry is my way of expressing gratitude by creating work that benefits others, sparks meaningful conversations and, where possible, serves as a gentle form of da'wah through art.
As part of that commitment, 5% of proceeds from every sale (excluding shipping costs) are donated to charity, reflecting the Islamic values of generosity and service to others.
With gratitude,
